Grieving in the shadows

The death of a person with whom you have had an intense emotional and/or physical connection with other than your publicly acknowledged partner or spouse can take a tremendous toll.

You may find you are trying to work through you grief completely in secret, hiding your pain and sadness from those around you. It is very difficult to function when you are grieving and can find no safe space where you can express your emotions.

You can seek no public acknowledgement of your loss or pain without revealing facts that could lead to breakdowns in existing relationships potentially leading to further losses. The fear of judgement is very real.

The fundamental issue is being able to resolve the burden of the loss and grief and move through the loss, towards the future.
