How can talking with a counsellor help me?

Often when you have a problem you see it from only one perspective.  That’s because when you’re right in the thick of it, it’s a struggling just to stay on track.  Any more is too demanding.

When you talk over your issue with an impartial person, you can get a different perspective, ideas for how you can tackle the problem, think about resources that you didn’t realise you could access.

This is how a counsellor can help you.

Do I need a referral?

No. All you need to do is contact me via email or phone to have a chat and make an appointment time.

Why see a registered counsellor?

Ensuring that the counsellor is registered means that we are qualified to at least a minimum specific level.  We continue with our professional development to maintain up to date knowledge so our practice is current.  We follow a Code of Ethics which ensures we comply with professional standards.

How does a web counselling session work?

Once we have decided that we can work together, all you need to do is create an account on the WeCounsel website. We’ll agree to a session time and meet over a secure connection at the agreed time. I’ll send hardcopy paper work via express post, with return post envelop organised for you. It couldn’t be simpler.

Do I have to commit to a weekly appointment?

Session times and duration are quite flexible. For example, if you are trying a new challenge as part of your plan we can schedule two half hour sessions so you can check in with me twice a week.  Or you may want fortnightly sessions, or weekly for a while then taper off.  Web counselling gives you maximum flexibility.
